RJM Superstar Scholarship Fund

Fall 2025 and Spring 2026

The RJM SuperStar Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Richard (Rick) J. Mohl, Jr., by his sister, mother, and a very close friend. Rick was a proud alumnus of Western Connecticut State University where he earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He was also pursuing additional certifications in math and science education. As a passionate and dedicated health teacher at Bethel Middle School, Rick was widely respected by students and colleagues alike. His leadership in middle school health education was recognized statewide in Connecticut.

Beyond the classroom, Rick was a vibrant supporter of the arts, especially theater and music. He led the Bethel Middle School drama club and directed numerous school productions. He also performed in community theater, was an accomplished ballroom dancer, and cherished everything about Broadway. His passion for the arts was matched only by his devotion to the young performers he mentored, helping them develop confidence and a lasting love for the stage. His influence continues to live on in the students and performers whose lives he touched.

Rick’s greatest legacy lies in the relationships he built with his students. He had a rare ability to recognize the unique value in each young person, making them feel seen, accepted, and empowered. The RJM SuperStar Scholarship reflects these values, honoring a student who embodies Rick’s spirit—whether in education or theater arts—by showing kindness, resilience, humor, and a commitment to giving back. It stands not only as a tribute to his life but as a source of inspiration and support for future generations.
