Arthur A. Josephson Elementary Education Scholarship
Fall 2025 and Spring 2026
This scholarship was created by Robert Israel, William Rudich, Jeffrey Gutterman and James Drucker, in memory of their former teacher, Arthur Josephson, also known as Mr. J. Arthur was an alumnus of the Danbury State Teachers College and taught at Western Connecticut State University in his later years. During a distinguished career as a public-school teacher, he inspired and changed the lives of generations of students by teaching them to embrace curiosity, search for clarity, honor complexity, and cherish goodwill through his daily lessons and by his personal example.
This scholarship was created to assist Elementary Education majors studying at Western Connecticut State University. Recipients that are enrolled full time (12 or more credits) and have demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA or AACTUS receive priority consideration. If you are not eligible to complete either a FAFSA or AACTUS, please contact the Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment at wscufinancialaid@wcsu.edu so that your application can still be taken into consideration.
